Five questions to ask a financial adviser

  1. Check the return on the investment and the length of time you have to invest it for
  2. Ask to see the key features document for each of the different products that are recommended to you (this summarises the key features of the product). It’s a useful document to have. By law, all financial service companies have to produce these documents.
  3. Ask to see their commission fees/charges
  4. Ask them what type of adviser they are: whether they are a single or multi-tied adviser or an independent financial adviser.
  5. Don’t be afraid to ask for more time to consider all the options in more detail. The adviser will be more than happy to arrange a follow up meeting.
