Pensions Folklore & Fact: 'My company is my pension'
Clerical Medical relaunches Pensions Folklore & Fact today with the fifth chapter of its adviser guide series - 'My company is my pension.' The series now fully updated and in the new Clerical Medical branding, is designed to help independent financial advisers dispel the common myths surrounding pensions when dealing with their clients.
Chapter five considers the popular misconception that small business owners would generally be better off building their business to provide them with an income in the future rather than fund a pension.
The chapter addresses the risks associated with using a company to provide a retirement income and provides ways of getting the most out your business; with techniques providing significant tax savings.
'My company is my pension' – key issues
Risks - The chapter asks whether clients want to tie up all their money in their business, and the best ways of extracting money from it.
When is the right time to sell your company? – Clerical Medical examines how to take action now to ensure the client's business is ready for sale, such as taking advantage of new Entrepreneurs’ tax relief.
Efficient profit extraction – The chapter offers help to small business owners looking to extract profits from a business in a tax efficient way, by adjusting the mix of dividends and pension contributions.
