Majority of Clevedon-based roles will move to nearby Bristol
Clerical Medical is committed to its head office location in Bristol
Clerical Medical is combining its Clevedon-based customer service operation with its existing Bristol-based customer service operation. The Clevedon office will close at the end of 2009. The majority of Clevedon-based colleagues will move to nearby Bristol.
Clevedon colleages
All Clevedon colleagues have been briefed by their line manager today. As a result of this decision, about 540 job roles currently located in Clevedon, Somerset will re-locate to Bristol, about 13 miles away. About 30 roles are at risk as part of this move. Clerical Medical will offer a staff travel allowance to make it as easy as possible for staff to get to Bristol. Lloyds Banking Group, owner of Clerical Medical, is committed to working through these changes with colleagues carefully and sensitively. The Unions Accord and Unite were consulted before this announcement and will continue to be consulted throughout this process.
John Van Der Wielen, managing director at Clerical Medical said:
"We are committed to excellent customer service. It's the right decision to move these two customer service operations under one roof."
"These plans have been put together thoughtfully with the best outcome for our colleagues in mind. Clerical Medical is committed to our flagship Bristol head office and is a significant employer in Bristol and the South West. Harbourside is a great place to work with its riverside restaurant, gym and staff social facilities.”
