The ability to take effective decisions and make informed judgements are important
skills for life. It’s in all our interests that people have the confidence and ability
to manage money - and this is why Clerical Medical has chosen this as a central
theme. We aim to make these essential skills both easy and accessible for all.

One of the projects we are supporting is the Personal Finance in Schools Programme.

Since 2005 we have been working with ABLAZE
(A Business Learning Action Zone for Education) and secondary schools in Bristol
to develop ways of integrating personal finance and enterprise into their school
curriculum.
Funding the Personal Finance in Schools project has helped meet schools’ needs to
integrate maths and personal finance as well as provide pupils entitlement to enterprise
education.
In July this year, the Personal Finance conference took place at the Watershed and over 80 students showcased their learning from the programme. The
project, which has also involved volunteers from Clerical Medical, has enabled students
to share their successes and compete for the Personal Finance in Schools award.
The winner of the award for 2008 was Withywood Community School, Bristol.
